Introduction

@PROMIS is the graphical user interface providing all operator functions to PROMIS.  The PROMIS system can be either OpenVMS or HP-UX.

@PROMIS provides the graphical user interface to access PROMIS without message bus.
The server is running on network web server, providing a centralization of all @PROMIS codes, without worrying of code distribution, and hardware upgrade of client machine.  @PROMIS requires TCP/IP network connection to PROMIS.  So, no new additional investment is required in order to use the software.

Architecture

Data consistency

@PROMIS does not require any local data cache or storage.  The functions simply retrieve the information from PROMIS at the time of invocation.  Since the software does not introduce overhead in PROMIS, the data retrieval will be performed in a shorter time.

Since all the codes are centralized in a network server, no software distribution is required for @PROMIS.  User just simply access the GUI from IE Browser to invoke the @PROMIS.

rmance

The performance of the transaction depends on the following:

Scalability and Avalibility

The following factors are taken into consideration:

Recovery

Since the software is installed in network server only, the recovery procedure will be simplified, and easily tracked in the centralized server.  The software does not have any local storage, so there is no concern of data inconsistency.  Either @PROMIS PROMIS Adapter or HTTP Server can be re-started independently, without interrupting on client workstation or network server.

Hardware and Software requirement

Web Server

Any hardware installed with a Web server.  The hardware should be on intranet, connecting to client workstation. The H/W configuration is suggested:
